New Delhi: There is great news for buyers eagerly awaiting Hyundai's next-generation i20. The company has released an official teaser for the new generation of its premium hatchback, the i20. This teaser offers a glimpse of the car's front design. The company is set to launch it in July 2026—that is, next month. Let's take a look at what special features we can expect to see in the next-generation i20.
Based on the teaser image, one can get an idea of the new Hyundai i20's sharp and modern aesthetic. It features arrowhead-shaped LED headlamps, while the Y-shaped LED DRLs are connected by a slim LED light bar. This makes the car's front profile appear even more appealing and futuristic than before. Earlier spy shots had suggested that the new i20's design might lean slightly towards an SUV or crossover style. The model spotted during testing was equipped with large 17-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. It is expected that the top-end variants will also feature newly designed alloy wheels.
The design of the A- and C-pillars in the new i20 may also be revised, giving the car a sportier profile. Additionally, it could feature a new window line, updated bumpers, connected LED taillights, and a completely redesigned tailgate. According to reports, the new-generation i20 may also be slightly larger in size compared to the current model.
Speaking of the cabin, the company is expected to introduce significant changes. The new i20 is anticipated to feature a curved dual-screen setup, similar to that found in the Creta. Along with this, it may come equipped with a new steering wheel, the latest connected car technology, and a host of other new features. In terms of safety, the new i20 is expected to be more advanced than its predecessor. According to reports, it may be equipped with ADAS features. Spy shots also hint that the car will feature front and rear parking sensors, along with a rear-view camera.
Regarding engine options, no major changes are anticipated for the new i20. It is likely to continue offering the existing 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, as well as the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine currently found in the i20 N Line. However, in international markets, the new-generation i20 could also be launched with a new 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and a mild-hybrid petrol powertrain. Consequently, in the near future, this premium hatchback from Hyundai could prove to be a significant update in terms of technology, design, and features.
