New Delhi: Citroën India has announced discounts across its entire product range for the month of March. This includes its entry-level model, the Citroën C3. The company is offering benefits of up to ₹65,000 on this hatchback. The benefits available under these offers will vary depending on the specific model, variant, and location.
These schemes include cash discounts, exchange bonuses, and financing offers—incentives designed to make purchasing this car more accessible for customers. Positioned as the brand's entry-level vehicle in India, the C3 continues to attract customers seeking an affordable and practical urban car. Notably, the starting ex-showroom price of the C3 is ₹4.99 lakh.
Compared to the standard C3, the C3X features the addition of 15 new features. These include Proxy-Sense Passive Entry with Push Start, Keyless Entry and Start, Cruise Control with Speed Limiter, 6 Airbags, a HALO 360-degree Camera System, LED Vision Projector Headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED Fog Lamps. It also comes equipped with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Tropicalized Automatic AC system. Additionally, it offers a 315-liter boot space and a rear USB Type-C charging port. In the Indian market, it competes with the Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, and Hyundai Exter, as well as the Maruti WagonR and Maruti Swift.
The C3X SUV is available with two engine options. One option features an 82hp, 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The second option is a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 110hp, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. Consequently, Autocar India conducted a mileage test on the range-topping turbo-automatic variant of this SUV. It is worth noting that the company claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 18.30 kmpl for this model.
The C3X's 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine generates 110hp of power and 205Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 6-speed torque converter. During the real-world mileage test, the vehicle delivered a fuel efficiency of 8.46 kmpl in the city and 13.38 kmpl on the highway. Thus, its average mileage stood at 10.92 kmpl. The throttle calibration is quite aggressive, making the car feel brisk and responsive—a characteristic that will appeal to drivers who enjoy spirited driving or frequent overtaking. However, this very trait also contributes to its lower real-world mileage figures.
During this real-world mileage test, it is also important to consider that the turbo-automatic variant is equipped with an engine start-stop system; furthermore, the climate control system works intensively to maintain a cabin temperature of 22 degrees Celsius amidst ambient temperatures ranging from 35 to 40 degrees Celsius—yet, this system rarely shuts off the engine while idling. Additionally, driving speed plays a significant role in fuel efficiency; the turbo variant is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 10 seconds.
