New Delhi: Chinese automaker BYD has launched the new-generation Atto 3. The company has introduced several updates to this refreshed model. The cabin of the new Atto 3 now features a cooled storage compartment, under-seat drawers for the rear passengers, and even a dedicated tissue holder. The new Atto 3 is now officially available for sale in four distinct variants. In its domestic market, the company has priced these models between 119,900 Yuan (approximately ₹16.86 lakh) and 149,900 Yuan (approximately ₹21.08 lakh).
In addition to a refreshed exterior style and an interior packed with enhanced features, BYD has introduced several firsts in this crossover: its new e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, upgraded Blade Battery technology, and an optional LiDAR-based driver assistance system. This crossover is also available in India. In terms of dimensions, the SUV now measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, while boasting a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. Its exterior design evolves BYD's existing 'Dragon Face' design language, featuring sleek headlamps, a flatter front fascia, and clean, sculpted surfaces.
The tailgate features a full-width rear lighting assembly with intricate, woven-pattern detailing, while flush-fitting door handles help enhance the vehicle's aerodynamic efficiency. Its storage capacity has also been significantly increased. Up front, a powered 'frunk' (front trunk) with a capacity of 180 liters is provided, which can be opened with a gentle tap. Meanwhile, the rear cargo compartment offers a storage capacity of up to 750 liters. BYD is offering this crossover in nine distinct colors, including several dual-tone options. Compared to the previous model, the cabin has undergone significant changes.
Dominating the center of the cabin is a large floating touchscreen, powered by BYD's new DiLink interface. Additionally, the steering wheel has been redesigned with a cleaner, two-spoke layout. The gear selector lever has now been relocated behind the steering wheel, thereby freeing up additional space on the center console. The top-spec variant comes equipped with a host of premium features, including heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 50W wireless charging pad, a large head-up display, and a 16-speaker audio system.
BYD has also added a powered relaxation seat for the front passenger, complete with an extendable leg support designed to provide enhanced comfort. Furthermore, the cabin features hidden storage compartments beneath the rear seats, a dedicated holder for eyewear, and various other small and large storage bins distributed throughout the interior. The new Atto 3 now offers a rear-wheel-drive layout, a departure from the front-wheel-drive configuration found in the previous model.
Power is supplied by a rear-mounted electric motor, which generates either 200 kW (268 hp) or 240 kW (322 hp), depending on the selected variant. Battery options include second-generation Blade battery packs with capacities of 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh, paired with BYD's latest flash-charging technology. Consequently, the vehicle achieves a driving range of 540 km and 630 km (respectively) under the CLTC cycle. Suspension duties are handled by MacPherson struts at the front and a 5-link system at the rear. Additionally, it features DiSus C adaptive damping, iTAC 2.0 torque management, and tire blowout stability control. Certain specific variants can also be equipped with the DiPilot 300 Advanced Assistance Package, which comprises LiDAR and 30 sensing devices. This system supports functions such as urban navigation assist, highway assistance, and automated parking.
