New Delhi: Independent MP from Bihar's Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, has landed himself in a controversy by his latest remarks on women in politics. His controversial remarks has gone viral online.

Pappy Yadav's remark came when he was speaking on women's exploitation in politics. Talking about the same he stated that without going to a political leader's room, 90 per cent of women cannot initiate their political careers.

"Who is indulging in domestic violence? Who preys on women, from America to India, it is politicians! 90% of women cannot start in politics without going to a male leader's room," asserted Pappu Yadav. Not just this he further added, "A culture of exploiting women has become ingrained."

"Go to school, and your daughter faces exploitation; go to college, and exploitation in the name of ragging; go to the office, exploitation is there as well...," Pappu Yadav said.

He further said, "Leaders behave like vultures toward women. Women are looked at with with predatory intent in both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. 70% of leaders watch pornography, check their phones."

He said that there was no representation of women from downtrodden caste as well. As per reports the Bihar State Women’s Commission has also issued a notice to the leader over his remarks, and tagged it a "violation of women’s dignity" and also asked for a response from him. The Commission has sought his response within 3 days, asking why he made the statement and why his Lok Sabha membership should not be cancelled.

Meanwhile, on Pappu Yadav's statement, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Pappu Yadav is considered the closest leader to the Congress party and extremely close to Rahul Gandhi. Although he is an independent leader, his importance in Rahul's eyes and within the Congress party is greater than that of elected Congress members. He deliberately made derogatory comments against women at the behest of Rahul Gandhi... This kind of cheap, backwards, and anti-women thinking is the Congress's thinking... Pappu Yadav should explain who he is talking about, as he must be in contact with many women in politics... Otherwise, it becomes clear that these derogatory comments against the entire female community were made at the behest of the Congress..."
