Hajipur: A major boat accident took place in the Ganga River on Wednesday morning in Hajipur of Vaishali district of Bihar. A private boat going from Raghopur towards Digha capsized in the river after hitting a big stone near the old number 9 paya of Mahatma Gandhi Setu. There were about 11 people in the boat. After the accident, there was chaos on the spot and people started screaming.
According to the information, the boat was going from Raghopur towards Digha. Meanwhile, the boat collided with a big stone near the old number 9 paya of Mahatma Gandhi Setu. After the collision, the boat lost its balance and in no time it overturned in the river Ganga.
Immediately after the boat capsized, the local people present nearby entered the Ganga to help and started the rescue operation. Due to the promptness of the local people, about 9 people were safely taken out of the river. However, two people are still reported missing.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Vaishali SP Shubhank Mishra reached the spot and took stock of the rescue operation. After this, Vaishali DM Varsha Singh also reached the spot. Officials inspected the spot and gave instructions to intensify the search for the missing people.
SDRF and NDRF teams also reached the spot about three hours after the accident. After this, a search operation was started to find the missing people in the Ganga river. Rescue teams are continuously conducting search operations at possible places in the river.
At present, 9 people have been rescued safely in the accident, while the search for two people is going on. There is a crowd of people from Raghopur to Mahatma Gandhi Setu. Family members and local people are keeping an eye on the rescue operation. The administration teams are working with full seriousness to search for the missing people. The reasons for the accident are also being investigated.
