Bihar Jamui Case: Major Action In Jamui Incident, Main Accused Nandan Yadav Killed In Police Encounter

Jamui: Police have intensified action in the viral video case of misbehaviour and assault with a minor student in Jamui, Bihar. On Tuesday, during the search for the accused, news of an encounter between the police and the suspects came to light. During this time, Nandan Yadav, who is said to be the main accused, got shot in his leg, while information about his associate Hareram Yadav getting injured in his leg has come to light. The police have taken both of them into custody and sent them to the hospital for treatment. According to the latest information, the police have detained four accused in this action.  

How did the encounter happen between the police and the accused?

The police team were continuously conducting raids to arrest the accused identified on the basis of the viral video. During this action, it came to light that the police encountered the accused. According to the information, Nandan Yadav tried to escape from the police. During this encounter, he was shot in the leg. There is information that Hareram Yadav got injured in his leg. Both were taken to the hospital under police surveillance.

In which case did the police initiate action?

The entire matter is related to a viral video that surfaced on the evening of 19 September. In the video, a minor boy and girl were seen surrounded by some youths. It is alleged that both of them were misbehaved and the student was treated indecently. After the video of the incident spread on social media, the police took the matter seriously and started investigation. Police used the footage and other clues to identify the people seen in the video.

How many accused have been caught by the police so far?

The police had arrested three accused during the initial action in the case. After this, continuous raids were being conducted in search of the remaining suspects. Police had said that about seven accused have been identified on the basis of the viral video. After the action taken on Tuesday, information has come to light that other accused including Nandan Yadav have also been detained.

Investigation of the Jamui case has also revealed that some of the accused are minors. Police have identified the suspects on the basis of viral video and other evidence. Action is being taken in the matter under relevant legal sections including the POCSO Act.
