Business News: The prices of commercial gas cylinders along with domestic gas cylinders have changed on the first of the month in all the four metros of the country. The special thing is that the prices of commercial gas cylinders in the country have come down to the lowest level of 7 months i.e. below Rs 1,700. By the way, the prices of commercial gas cylinders have been reduced for the second consecutive month. Whereas on the 8th of last month, the price of domestic gas cylinders saw an increase of Rs 50 per gas cylinder. This was announced by the Petroleum Minister of the country. Let us also tell you how much the prices of commercial gas cylinders along with domestic gas cylinders have become.
On May 1, the 19 kg commercial cylinder has become cheaper. The rate of commercial cylinder has been reduced by up to Rs 17. Today, on May 1, the same commercial cylinder in Kolkata is now Rs 1851.50 instead of Rs 1868.50. In Mumbai, the price of this cylinder has now become Rs 1699 instead of Rs 1713.50. The special thing is that the commercial gas cylinder has the lowest price in all the four metros of the country. Also, for the first time after October 2024, the price of commercial gas cylinder in the country has come down to Rs 1,700. In Chennai, it has become Rs 1906.50 instead of Rs 1921.50. In Delhi, it will now be available for Rs 1747.50.
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, domestic LPG cylinder will be available in Delhi for Rs 853, in Kolkata for Rs 879, in Mumbai for Rs 852.50 and in Chennai for Rs 868.50. The rates of domestic LPG gas were updated on April 8. Then the government had increased the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder by Rs 50. This increase happened after about a year. On April 1, there was a change in the price of commercial LPG cylinder. In Delhi, the 19 kg LPG cylinder became cheaper by Rs 41 and now costs Rs 1762 and today on May 1, the rate has been reduced.
There are a total of 32.9 crore LPG connections in the country. Of these, 10.33 crore are under the Ujjwala scheme, where the poor get cylinders for Rs 300 less. Due to the already running government schemes in the southern states (like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh), the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana here are only 10 percent. If we talk about subsidy status, then in the budget of 2025-26, the government has kept Rs 11,100 crore for LPG subsidy. Last year (2022-23), Rs 22,000 crore was given to the oil companies because they were selling cylinders at a loss.
