Business News: The central government has decided to distribute 25 lakh free LPG connections across India. This expansion comes under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. With this, the total number of beneficiaries will cross 10.6 crore families. Each household receiving a new connection will be provided with a cylinder, regulator, and stove. The announcement is being seen as a significant push for household energy security.
According to Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, the government will spend ₹2,050 per connection. This cost covers all essentials like the gas cylinder, stove, regulator, and safety accessories. The scheme ensures that families, especially in rural areas, will not have to depend on wood or coal for cooking. The government believes this step will improve both health and environment.
Minister Puri described this move as a Navratri gift for women. He said the scheme reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s respect for women’s power. Modi’s leadership, he added, treats women like the embodiment of Goddess Durga. By expanding Ujjwala, the government aims to ease the daily struggles of mothers and sisters. The message is clear: empowering women is central to India’s growth.
