Mumbai: Sometimes, some Bollywood films are released in theaters without any major stars but the story unfolds in such way that the audience is surprised. Director Ashish R Mohan's film 'Daadi Ki Shaadi' is one of those film. When the trailer of the film was released, it seemed as if the makers had already revealed the entire plot. However, upon watching it in full, it became clear that many surprises had been kept
The film's story is quite simple. Delhi resident Tony Kalra (which is played by Kapil Sharma) has been searching for a girl for three years, but he can't seem to find a suitable one and marry her. His father (Yograj Singh) tries hard to find a girl for his grandson, and finally finds Kanika Ahuja ( which is played by Sadia Khatib). Just as their engagement is about to take place, Kanika's grandmother, Vimala Ahuja (which is played by Neetu Kapoor), who lives alone in her luxurious bungalow, announces via social media that she is getting married. This sends Kanika's family into panic mode.
Later, Tony's father tells the girl's family, sons - Jeevan (Deepak Dutta) and Nagendra (Jitendra Hooda), as well as her daughter, Sunaina (Riddhima Kapoor Sahni) that if their mother gets married, their grandson will not marry Kanika. So, everyone sets out to Shimla to stop their mother, Vimala, from getting married. Tony also goes along with them to help his love. Despite the family's disapproval, grandmother Vimala and her lover, Colonel Theeran Devarajan (which is played by R. Sarathkumar), have decided to get married.
Will grandmother get married? And if so, will Tony lose his love? This forms the basic plot of the film, with plenty of twists and surprises thrown in.
Many people are reacting in a positive way and some viewers doesn't like the plot of the movie.
One viewer said that, "the highlight of 'Daadi Ki Shaadi' is its well-crafted story."
Other user said that, "Attempts have been made many times to showcase family values mixed with a dash of humor. However, most films have failed to deliver this effectively to audiences."
Another user wrote, "Kapil Sharma's acting, on the other hand, passes with flying colors."
One user said that, "The film's comedy doesn't feel forced; instead, it's kept quite natural, making it truly enjoyable."
The biggest weak point of the film is its runtime, which is approximately 2:30 hours. The film's story is quite simple, but director Ashish R. Mohan spends a lot of time narrating it. The first half is quite entertaining, but at a certain point, even that becomes boring.
The second half is also in a similar state. The film's plot feels quite choppy. If the runtime had been reduced by a few minutes, it could have been a better family entertainer. Furthermore, the story becomes predictable after a point.
All the actors in the film deliver excellent performances. Kapil Sharma seems to be back in his old form. His one-line comedies are quite entertaining. Neetu Kapoor is also incredibly sweet as the grandmother. South Indian actor R. Sarathkumar has also delivered a strong performance. Sadia Khatib is simply stunning in the film, as she looks absolutely stunning.
Neetu Kapoor's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who also marks her Bollywood debut, delivers a solid performance. Actors like Deepak Dutta, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Jitendra Hooda, and Aditi Mittal also play strong supporting roles. And yes, cricketer Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh, is also in the film, and you'll surely be surprised to see him in a completely different avatar.
