New Delhi: Actress Yami Gautam says she was eager to be part of  the film 'Dhurandhar', the latest blockbuster directed by her husband, Aditya Dhar. But in a recent interview, she revealed there was a clear professional boundary between her acting ambitions and the filmmaker’s casting choices.

What Did Yami Say About the Script?

Yami said that when she first read the 'Dhurandhar' script, she felt excited and even joked that she wished she were a man, given the powerful central role.

"When I read his next script, I told him that it was one of those rare moments when I wished I was a guy. The script is so brilliant. It's such an amazing world," she shared.

The actress called the story "fantastic" and praised its world-building. But she also made it clear she didn’t expect anything beyond admiration for the writing.

Yami said she and Aditya have a firm understanding about keeping their personal and professional lives separate. She added that Aditya respects that line and gave no indication she would be cast. “We honour that professional line,” she said, noting she did not want blurred roles or expectations.

How Did Aditya Respond?

Aditya, who is known for hits like ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, has publicly acknowledged Yami’s support even though she wasn’t part of ‘Dhurandhar’. In the film’s credits, he thanked her, reflecting mutual respect in their work-life balance.

What Is Dhurandhar’s Standing Now?

Released earlier this month, ‘Dhurandhar’ has emerged as one of Bollywood’s biggest successes of the year. The action thriller, starring Ranveer Singh and an ensemble cast, has crossed massive box office milestones and sparked wide conversation across the industry and audiences.
