Did a Scene From Salman Khan's 'Battle of Galwan' Really Leak Online? (X: @Ibeingsid)

Mumbai: A video clip claiming to show a dramatic scene from 'Battle of Galwan', the much-anticipated war film starring Salman Khan, has been circulating widely on social media. In it, a character resembling Salman is shown wounded on the ground before rising to strike what appear to be enemy soldiers with a bat. The clip spread fast online over the holiday weekend.

Is the leaked footage genuine?

In the viral video shared on X by a user, Salman can be seen dressed in uniform. He is seen crawling on a snow-clad mountain with blood and wounds on his face. He is then seen getting up and taking hold of a baseball bat to beat up the Chinese troops.

However, the film insiders and fact-checkers say that the viral clip is not from the movie. Experts who analysed the video and several reports confirm it was generated using artificial intelligence and is not part of the official film. Observers noted inconsistencies, including snow in the footage even though the real 2020 clash in Ladakh didn't have such conditions and online users quickly pointed out signs of AI creation.

The movie's makers have neither confirmed nor denied whether the fake clip came from internal leaks, but there’s no evidence the footage is authentic.

Why is 'Battle of Galwan' attracting attention already?

The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is based on the deadly 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh. The teaser was released on Salman Khan’s 60th birthday in late December and has sparked lively debate online, from fans praising the patriotism to critics and commentators raising questions over its portrayal of real events.

The movie's narrative has even drawn criticism abroad. Chinese media outlets have accused the film of exaggerating or distorting facts, though many in India defend it as a work of cinema and artistic expression.

When is the film coming out?

'Battle of Galwan' is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 17. The cast includes Salman Khan, Chitrangda Singh and other actors in key roles, and it aims to dramatise the human stories behind the real battle.

Fans and critics alike are now waiting for the official trailer, which is expected to give a clearer look at the film’s tone and how faithfully it represents the historic clash.
