Kumar Sanu’s Ex-Wife
National News: Rita Bhattacharya recalled how Kumar Sanu was not ambitious in the beginning. She says she encouraged him to chase music and supported him when they had nothing. According to her, Sanu had only one percent talent, but her constant motivation pushed him forward. She even claims it was her dream that turned into his success story. Without her support, she insists, he would never have reached the heights of stardom.
Rita painted a vivid picture of their struggles in Mumbai. They had no car, no money, and slept on the floor without even a fan. Sometimes, they sprinkled water on bedsheets to survive the heat. She rejected Sanu’s claims that his family sent him to Mumbai, calling them lies. Rita said she was the one who forced him to fight for a career in Bombay while she endured extreme hardships with him.
According to Rita, everything shifted after the film Aashiqui made Sanu famous. With money and popularity, his behavior changed drastically. She accused him of becoming rude and ignoring his own children. Even during their elder son’s wedding, Sanu allegedly kept his distance. Rita said that he avoided responsibilities while focusing on his love life rumors that filled the media. This behavior, she said, was deeply insulting to her and her family.
Rita alleged she lived almost like a prisoner in her own home. She was never allowed to step out, not even for simple things like going to a parlor. Even something as basic as waxing was restricted. She said she felt suffocated by the control and the lack of independence. Despite being a mother and wife, she claims she was constantly treated without respect and dignity inside her marital home.
Adding to her pain, Rita accused her in-laws of torture. During pregnancy, she claims she was subjected to cruelty and dragged to court under false charges. According to her, Sanu already had affairs during that time. She described the experience as devastating, especially since she lost her father while expecting their child. The combination of grief, abuse, and betrayal made her feel like her entire world had collapsed.
Rita recalled a disturbing incident when she was pregnant and denied food. She claimed her in-laws locked the kitchen and left her starving. She had to send the watchman to buy a kilo of rice so she could cook and eat. She said even milk for her children was stopped, which left her shattered. Rita called it inhuman treatment, questioning how such behavior could come from people who claim to be respectable.
Even today, Rita says she has not received a clear answer from Sanu about their separation. She revealed she still wants to ask him face-to-face why the divorce really happened. According to her, despite the cruelty, she never wanted separation as she had children to raise. But the betrayal, court battles, and neglect left her no choice. She concluded that before dying, she wishes to confront him one last time for the truth.
