The Mumbai police have arrested five people linked to the firing outside Bollywood director Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence, even as the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the incident.

Mumbai: The Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Sunday has taken the responsibility for a shooting incident that took place outside the Bollywood director Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence in Mumbai.

When did the attack happen?

According to the police, the incident of late-night firing happened outside the residence of Rohit Shetty in Mumbai on Sunday.

The police official said that unidentified assailants fired four rounds outside the director's house in the Juhu area at around 12:43 am.

The police said that at least four rounds were fired, with one bullet striking the glass facade of a gym located within the building.

Who is taking the responsibility?

After the firing incident, a post shared by Shubham Lonkar and Aarzoo Bishnoi went viral on social media.

The post, which is written in Hindi, takes the responsibility and also warns for the worst.

"Ram Ram, Jai Bajrang Bali to all brothers. Today, we, Shubham Lonkar, Aarzoo Bishnoi, Hari Boxer, and Harman Shandu, take responsibility for the firing at film director Rohit Shetty's home in Mumbai. We messaged him many times not to interfere in our work, but he did not understand. This is just a small trailer. If he doesn't listen, the next bullets won't be outside the house-they will be inside his bedroom, into his chest," the post read.

The post further warns the Bollywood industry for the worst and also mentions Baba Siddique.

"This is a warning to the entire Bollywood industry: mend your ways or your condition will be worse than Baba Siddique's. To those we have called-fall in line or you will run out of places to hide. And to our enemies, be ready; wait and watch," the note added further.

The post concluded with a note saying, "NOTE: There was only one, there is only one, and there will only be one - Lawrence Bishnoi Group."

What does the police say?

Following the incident, the police have so far arrested five people, including Aman Anand Marote (27), Aditya Gyaneshwar Gayaki (19), Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20), Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (18), and Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23) in connection with the shooting.

The police on Monday said that the Mumbai Crime Branch has formed 12 special teams to arrest the suspects involved in the shooting.

Earlier, the Mumbai Police said that, "Following this, heavy police security has been deployed around Rohit Shetty's residence in Juhu.  The police are currently investigating the matter diligently and exploring every possible angle to identify the perpetrators. The motive behind the attack is still unknown."
