Thailand: This time the final of Miss Universe 2025, held in Thailand, was in the news more due to controversies than glamour. Beauties from across the world graced the ramp at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, but several incidents made headlines from the beginning of the show till the finale. Next year this competition will be held in Puerto Rico.
Mexico's Fatima Bosch, who ultimately won the Miss Universe 2025 crown, was in the news a few weeks ago when she left the stage following pageant host Navat Itsagrisil's comments during a live meeting. Nawat had reportedly called Fatima a “dumbhead” for not making necessary promotional posts on social media. After this comment, Bosch walked out of the meeting in her evening gown and heels. Nawat later denied using the word, but the matter escalated.
After this reaction of Fatima, three judges left the pageant. A judge claimed that there was an inappropriate relationship between a contestant and a judge. This controversy grew so much that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also had to give a statement. She said that Fatima did the right thing and women should raise their voices against injustice.
Manika Vishwakarma from Rajasthan participated from India's side. Manika was successful in making it to the top 30 but could not reach the top 12. 21-year-old Manika is a student of political science and economics and is also well recognized in art fields like dance and painting.
Thailand, the Philippines, Venezuela, Mexico, and Côte d'Ivoire reached the top 5 for the finals.
The final results were as follows:
• Fourth Runner-up: Côte d'Ivoire
• Third Runner-up: Philippines
• Second runner-up: Venezuela
• 1st Runner-up: Thailand
• Winner: Mexico's Fatima Bosch
30 contestants took part in the swimsuit round. In this, India's Manika wore a white monokini. Miss Palestine kept herself completely covered in this round, which became a topic of discussion. In the evening gown round, the contestants from the Philippines and Chile attracted a lot of attention with their gowns.
The pageant opened with a performance by Thai singer Jeff Satter. In the initial introduction, the audience gave the loudest cheers to India, Thailand, China, the Philippines, and Mexico. Many contestants this year showed confidence, but some also made mistakes in their introductions, such as hesitating while saying the name of the contestant from Côte d'Ivoire.
