Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios crowned Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador

The Miss Universe crown for the year 2023 was claimed by Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios in a grand event that was held at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador on November 19 (according to IST). 

Miss Universe 2022, USA’s R'Bonney Gabriel crowned Sheynnis Palacios as Miss Universe 2023 amid loud cheers from the crowd. 

The top 3 finalists of the beauty pageant were from Thailand, Australia and Nicaragua. Australia’s Moraya Wilson was the second runner-up while Thailand’s Antonia Porsild was crowned first runner-up at the 72nd Miss Universe contest. 

Miss Universe India: Shweta Sharda

 

Chandigarh-born Shweta Sharda represented India at the beauty pageant this year and even made it to the semi-finals after winning the Miss Diva Universe 2023 title in August this year. 

 A tremendous sense of satisfaction and excitement comes from winning the Miss Diva India pageant. I've been dreaming about this moment for so long, and seeing it come true is simply beyond words. I am incredibly grateful and eager for the journey that lies ahead, and I'm looking forward to making my nation and my family proud by bringing the Miss Universe Crown back to India," she had told the media after winning Miss Diva Universe.

The Miss Universe 2023 saw the participation of 84 nations and territories who competed against each other in this global beauty pageant. For the first time in history, Pakistan also debuted at the global beauty event.
