New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously while star cricketer Rohit Sharma hs been honoured with the Padma Shri.
The complete list of Padma Awards has been released ahead of Republic Day. The list includes several well-known names, as well as those who work among the people in society but have not received much recognition. These include people from remote and backward areas. These are the people who work at the grassroots level. The late actor Dharmendra has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan and cricketer Rohit Sharma has been awarded the Padma Shri. Of the total 131 Padma Awards, 19 are for women and six are for foreign nationals/NRIs. In addition, sixteen personalities have been selected for these awards posthumously.
Cricketer Rohit Sharma, hockey goalkeeper Savita Punia, industrialist Ashok Khare, and writer Ashok Kumar Halder are among the 113 people who have been announced for the Padma Shri award. Renowned tennis player Vijay Amritraj will be honored with the Padma Bhushan. Playback singer Alka Yagnik, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari, actor Mammootty, and banker Uday Kotak will also be awarded the Padma Bhushan. Former JNU Vice-Chancellor M. Jagadesh Kumar and former Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati will be awarded the Padma Shri.
