Poll Duty Breach: CCTV Operator Detained for Watching Leaked Jana Nayagan; Sharing Clips Online (X)
Chennai: A CCTV operator, who was assigned to monitor polling duties at Anna University in Chennai on election day, i.e. April 23, has been detained after he was caught watching the leaked version of actor Vijay Thalapathy's unreleased film 'Jana Nayagan'.
Due to unexpected breach of election duty, the CCTV operator, who was on poll duty during the election day, was watching and sharing leaked clips of the unreleased film, 'Jana Nayagan'.
According to media reports, the CCTV operator, who is identified as Yuvaraj, had been hired on a contract basis for surveillance duty during election day on April 23.
And rather than, monitoring the polling activities, the operator was reportedly caught watching the leaked version of Jana Nayagan and was also sharing photo and videos on his Facebook account.
After the leaked videos and photos surfaced on social media, authorities detained the CCTV operator, raising concerns over both piracy and misuse of official power.
The police are also investigating how he accessed the leaked film while on duty.
The development comes after, Vijay's potential last film before a full-time move into politics, appeared online on April 9 ahead of its release. 'Jana Nayagan' had been scheduled for a January 9 release but the CBFC did not issue a final certificate in time, citing procedural issues and a possible review by a revising committee.
Besides Vijay, the film features Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in lead roles. Bobby is playing the villain.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, 'Jana Nayagan' will release worldwide on May 8. The filmmakers will announce the details soon.
Produced under the banner of KVN Productions, the film faced significant difficulties with the censor board, which is why it was delayed earlier. 'Jana Nayagan' was originally scheduled to release on January 9.
