New Delhi: Salman Khan is back in a legal battle. This time not in a criminal court but in the Delhi High Court. The actor has filed a petition seeking an urgent halt on the release and promotion of an upcoming film called 'Kala Hiran: Battle for Legacy'. Salman claims the film is being built around his real-life image and identity. The consent also had not been asked. The '1998 blackbuck poaching case' linked to him is allegedly the inspiration behind the project. His legal team has argued that the film's promotional material directly points to him and uses his identity for commercial gain. The matter is now at the stage of an interim hearing and the court will soon decide whether the film can continue its promotional run.

What Salman has asked the court?

Salman's petition asks the Delhi High Court to stop everything connected to the film. It is because the movie reportedly based on the real life incidents of mine. Production, promotion, streaming and release should be stopped. he wants a complete ban on all of it. He has argued that the film violates his personality rights and publicity rights. He pointed to specific elements in the poster and teaser. A character in the promotional material is reportedly shown wearing a bracelet similar to his signature style. He says the visual references are not coincidental. They are deliberate and designed to profit from his identity.

Is it a fear of reputational damage?

The petition goes beyond just image rights. Salman has also raised concerns that the film could influence public opinion about him and potentially impact ongoing legal proceedings related to the original blackbuck case. He has argued that such a portrayal could do lasting damage to a reputation built over decades. He has asked for a strong injunction covering all forms of circulation including posters, videos and any digital content connected to the film.

Who has been named?

The petition has been filed against producer Amit Jani, his production company Jani Firefox Films, Akshay Pandey and other associated parties. The interim injunction application will be heard shortly and its outcome will determine whether the film's promotional campaign can continue.

Filmmaker pushes back?

The trouble started after Salman's legal team sent a formal notice to the makers demanding an immediate stop to the release and removal of all promotional material. Producer Amit Jani has rejected every allegation. He said the film is based entirely on information available in the public domain. He described it as a film about wildlife protection and the Bishnoi community's efforts. He was firm that this is not a biopic on Salman Khan. He also pointed out that only a poster had been released at the time of the dispute and the teaser had not even dropped yet.
Director Bharat S Shrinate and the rest of the team have called it a suspense-action drama inspired by the real events.

What happens next?

The Delhi High Court will now take a call on whether to grant an interim stay. That decision will shape the immediate future of Kala Hiran: Battle for Legacy. If the court grants the stay, all promotion stops. If it does not, the film moves ahead while the legal fight continues in the background.
