Mumbai’s popular dining spot, Bastian Bandra, is shutting its doors this week, as announced by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. This restaurant is known for Known for its star-studded evenings and seafood specials, a go-to place for locals and tourists since 2016, will serve its final meals soon. Shilpa shared a long note sharing the news with her fans and followers on her Instagram stories. She is also thanking fans for their support and promising a special final night filled with joy. While Bastian Bandra closes, she assured fans that the restaurant’s weekly event, Arcane Affair, will continue at Bastian At The Top with fresh experiences. This decision follows recent financial allegations against Shilpa and her husband, Raj Kundra.
Shilpa and Raj Kundra are facing allegations of cheating a Mumbai businessman out of Rs 60.4 crore. The complaint, filed with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), claims the couple misused funds invested in their former company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, between 2015 and 2023. The businessman, Deepak Kothari, said the money was meant for business growth but was used for personal expenses instead. The EOW is currently looking into the matter, and another individual is also named in the case.
Bastian Bandra, co-owned by Shilpa Shetty and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, was a go-to place for seafood dishes and lively nightlife. Since its launch, it became a hotspot for creating lasting memories for its guests. The closure has left many fans disappointed, but Shilpa promised that the spirit of Bastian will live on at its new location.
The couple’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, called the cheating allegations baseless and misleading. He explained that the issue stems from an old business deal that led to financial difficulties for their company, which is now under liquidation. “This is a civil matter, not a criminal one. We’ve provided all required documents to the authorities,” Patil said. He added that Shilpa and Raj are taking legal steps to address what they believe is an attempt to damage their reputation.
Despite the restaurant’s closure and ongoing legal issues, Shilpa remains focused on new beginnings. She encouraged fans to join the final event at Bastian Bandra and to look forward to exciting times at Bastian At The Top. The couple is also working to clear their names in the legal case, maintaining that the accusations against them lack merit.
