Mumbai: Veteran actor Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday, October 25, in Mumbai. He had been suffering from a kidney-related illness and had recently undergone a transplant. According to his personal assistant Ramesh Kadatala, Shah died at his home in Bandra East in the afternoon. Kadatala added, "It appears he suffered a heart attack, but we are waiting for the doctor’s final report to confirm the cause of death.
Satish Shah was widely loved for his role in the popular sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and films such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Main Hoon Na. He also gained fame in the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, directed by Kundan Shah and Manjul Sinha, where he portrayed 55 different characters.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit shared his grief on Instagram, saying, "Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and great actor Satish Shah passed away a few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital where he breathed his last. A great loss to our industry. Om Shanti." Madhur Bhandarkar also expressed his condolences, stating, "I am deeply shocked to hear about the demise of the talented actor Satish Shah sir. On the big screen and television, he entertained us with his diverse roles and excellent performances. My heartfelt condolences to his family and fans."
Satish Shah was last seen on the big screen in Humshakals (2014) as Mr. Y.M. Raj, appearing in supporting roles in films and web projects. He continued to entertain audiences with his unique comic timing. Despite his age, he remained active in acting until shortly before his passing.
