What is National Testing Agency (NTA)? Know The History, Structure, and Examinations

Established under the Societies Registration Act to relieve CBSE from exam management burdens following 2015 paper leak controversies, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is a specialized body composed of experts from premier institutes that conducts major national-level entrance exams like JEE Main, NEET, and CUET.

New Delhi: National Testing Agency (NTA) is an agency made for the purpose of conducting entrance examinations. It came into existence after the approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under The Societies Registration Act, 1860. The first budget for this agency was passed in 2017-2018.

Who was conducting these exams earlier?

Earlier, CBSE was responsible for several entrance examinations. But because it's also an central educational board, providing primary, junior and senior secondary education. Following this, it was not effectively managing both the it's segments.

Exam's difficulty level?

NTA conducts examinations in very practical manner. Question paper made to considering every segment of the students. Some questions may be difficult some easy and some moderate.

Why NTA came into existence?

Several paper leaks, and mismanagements have been done during 2015. Initially AIPMT (later changed to NEET), several complaints came into vision during that period of time and re-exam had been scheduled. So, the requirement of a new body, solely responsible to conduct such mass volume examinations, had created. Under the Society Registration Act 1960, a new examination body NTA took its form.

Members of NTA?

In NTA, members are chosen by minister of education and led by the president of that committee. Apart from this, all the members belongs to IITs, IIMs and several other National Institute of Importance.

How many examinations conducted by NTA?

NTA organised several national level entrance examinations included JEE Mains, NEET UG, CUET UG, CUET PG, UGC NET, GPAT, CMAT, IGNOU entrance examinations.
