Kabul: Fierce fighting has once again erupted between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Afghan border forces have launched fighting in eastern provinces in response to airstrikes by the Pakistani military. A spokesman for the 201 Khalid bin Walid Corps, an Afghan military unit, provided this information.

Why was the operation launched?

According to the spokesman, the operation began directly after Pakistan's airstrikes, which sharply escalated tensions in the border areas. The Taliban spokesman claimed that the Afghan Taliban had launched a large-scale military operation along the border with Pakistan.

According to Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, "A large-scale military operation has been launched along the disputed Durand Line in response to repeated provocations and violations by Pakistani military forces."

Mujahid, posting on X, stated that this extensive operation targeted Pakistani military bases and military installations. He stated that this step was taken in response to ongoing military activity.

Where are the clashes taking place?

Afghanistan has launched retaliatory attacks targeting Pakistani border posts, and these operations are continuing simultaneously in several areas. According to the Taliban's military wing, forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have launched retaliatory operations against Pakistani forces in various parts of the Durand Line.

The Afghan Defense Ministry reported that operations are underway against Pakistani forces in several areas, including Khost, Paktia, and Nuristan provinces. The ministry stated that the ongoing operations along these parts of the border are in response to military activity by Pakistan. Clashes are currently ongoing in several locations, and the situation along the border remains tense.

Why did Afghan Taliban attack Pakistan?

While no clear information has emerged regarding the number of casualties or the scale of the fighting, rhetoric suggests this is not a minor border skirmish but a major military response. According to Afghan officials, dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed in Pakistani airstrikes in two Afghan provinces bordering Pakistan on Sunday. These strikes occurred in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, which Pakistan has described as targeting militant hideouts.
