New Delhi: Big news has come to light amid the ongoing war in the Middle East. Israel has claimed that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri has been killed in the attack in Bandar Abbas. However, Iran has not yet given any official statement on this.
It is being said that this attack took place in Bandar Abbas area, which is considered a very important naval base for Iran. It is from here that many activities in the Gulf region operate. Therefore targeting this place is being considered a big sign in itself.
Alireza Tangsiri was not just a military officer but the face of Iran's power in the Strait of Hormuz. He was often in the news for his statements challenging America and Israel at sea. It was under his leadership that the IRGC Navy surrounded American warships several times in the Persian Gulf and carried out direct confrontations with them. For Israel, they had become the biggest symbol of Iran's maritime threat.
Alireza Tangsiri was the head of the IRGC Navy. His name has often come up in strategies related to the Strait of Hormuz. They were part of Iran's policy, which calls for responding by putting pressure on sea routes.
This information has come to light from Israeli media and officials. It is said that Tangsiri was directly targeted in the attack. However, clear information about how the operation took place and which weapons were used has not been revealed yet.
There has been neither confirmation nor denial so far. Usually, Iran reacts quickly in such matters, but this time it remained silent. This has intensified the speculations.
The death of a big military officer like Tangsiri will be considered a big blow for Iran. This may have an impact on its strategy especially on the maritime front.
Given the current situation, the possibility of retaliatory action cannot be ruled out. Even before, in such cases the tension has increased rapidly. This time also the situation may go in the same direction.
At present the matter is not completely clear. On one side there is claim, on the other side there is silence. In such a situation, we will have to wait for a while to get a definite picture.
This is the biggest concern. Tangsiri was the mastermind of the strategy under which Iran had repeatedly threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if it was attacked. About 20 percent of the world's total oil trade passes through this strait. Now after his death, Iran can either increase attacks on this route or threaten to close it completely. An alert has been issued regarding the safety of oil tankers in international waters.
Till now Iran has not given an official statement on the death of its top commander, but if it is confirmed, then a major retaliatory attack from Iran is considered almost certain. Analysts say Iran may not go to war directly but could launch missile attacks on Israeli or US targets or through its allies. There has been increased activity in the Gulf countries and America has increased the vigilance of its warships in the region.
