King Charles Orders Brother to Vacate Windsor Estate (X)
Britain: Britain's Prince Andrew was stripped of all his royal titles and honors on Thursday following allegations related to America's notorious criminal Jeffrey Epstein. Buckingham Palace said that this decision has been taken by King Charles III. After this, Andrew also had to leave his house in Windsor Estate, and now he will live in a private house.
A statement issued by the palace said, "Her Majesty has today begun a formal process under which all royal titles, positions, and honors of Prince Andrew are being withdrawn. He will now be known as 'Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.'" The statement also added that the legal protection for Andrew's lease on 'Royal Lodge' is now being terminated and he will be given a new private residence.
Buckingham Palace also said that the King and Queen offer their deepest condolences to all victims and survivors who have been victims of any form of abuse.
According to a BBC report, Andrew lived with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson in the 'Royal Lodge' of Windsor Estate. Now both will shift to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk County. This property is personal to King Charles III, and he will also bear the living expenses of his brother Andrew.
Prince Andrew himself gave up the title of 'Duke of York' on 17 October. He had said that this step was necessary due to the allegations against him, although he denied all the allegations. In his statement he had said, "I will no longer use the titles or honors that were given to me. I have said before, and I say now, that I vehemently reject these allegations."
In 2021, a victim of the Epstein case sued Prince Andrew, alleging that when she was a teenager, Epstein sent her to Andrew and he sexually abused her. A few years later the woman committed suicide. Due to these serious allegations and public outcry, the British Royal Family has withdrawn all royal rights and honors from Andrew so that he will now be known only as “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor”.
