International News: Continuous heavy rain and floods over the past few days have caused major destruction in Beijing, the capital of China. So far, at least 30 people have lost their lives. According to the national broadcaster CCTV, the northern parts of the city have suffered the most, with 28 deaths reported in Miyun district and 2 in Yanqing district.

Thousands Moved to Safer Locations

As the situation worsened, the government launched emergency relief operations. More than 80,000 people have been relocated from various parts of Beijing to safer areas. In addition, around 40,000 residents were also evacuated from nearby Tianjin City. Rescue and emergency teams are working non-stop in flood-affected regions to provide help and support.

Roads and Electricity Systems Severely Damaged

The floods have caused heavy damage to the city’s infrastructure. Many roads have been washed away or blocked, and the power supply has been cut off in around 136 villages. In some places, waterlogging and soil erosion have made areas completely unreachable. In Miyun district, water in the main reservoir rose to a historic high, forcing the authorities to release water for the first time since 1959.

President Xi Jinping Orders Urgent Action

In response to the disaster, President Xi Jinping has issued strong instructions to local officials. He has asked them to do everything possible to find missing people, properly resettle displaced families, and reduce the number of casualties. He emphasized the need for a quick and effective response at all levels.

Landslides and Storms Worsen the Situation

The situation became more dangerous due to landslides in nearby Hebei province, where four people have died and eight others are still missing. This brings the total reported deaths in the region to at least 34 people. Search and rescue operations are underway in landslide-hit zones.

Officials Warn of More Rain, Urge Caution

Authorities have warned that river levels are rising quickly and could become even more dangerous. People living in low-lying areas have been asked to move to higher ground and stay alert. The weather department has also forecast more heavy rainfall in the coming days, which may increase the risk of floods.
