Islamabad: India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian Air Force has destroyed many terrorist hideouts in air strikes. India has not disclosed which weapon it used in Operation Sindoor, but Indian weapons have caused destruction at Jaish and Lashkar hideouts about 100 km inside Punjab province. India targeted 21 terrorist hideouts at a total of 9 places in which a large number of terrorists have been killed. Many military analysts say that India used France's SCALP and indigenous supersonic cruise missile Brahmos in this fierce attack. Now a former Pakistani army officer has told why Pakistan was not successful in shooting down these missiles. Let's understand...
Former Vice Air Marshal of Pakistan Air Force Ikramullah Bhatti, while talking to BBC, claimed that the country has the capability to stop short-range, medium-range and long-range surface-to-surface cruise missiles and ballistic missiles through air defense systems. This also includes China's HQ 16 air defense system. He revealed that the Pakistani army does not have the capability to stop air-to-ground missiles. It is being told that India has used the air launch version of the Brahmos missile with the help of Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
Former Pakistan Air Commodore Adil Sultan while talking to BBC said that India and Pakistan share borders. In such a situation, it is not possible to provide complete security from attack. He also said that it is impossible to stop air-to-ground missiles 100 percent. Bhatti said that air-to-ground missiles have now become very modern. Their speed has increased a lot. It ranges from Mach 3 to Mach 9. He claimed that even America, China, Russia do not have the capability to stop missiles with such high speed.
Bhatti said that another problem in stopping air-fired missiles is that their flight duration is very short. Due to this, the reaction time to shoot it down is very less. On the other hand, if we talk about ground-to-ground missiles, they take a lot of time to reach and due to this it is possible to shoot it down. Let us tell you that Scalp is an air-launched cruise missile equipped with stealth technology. It is designed for long-range attacks. It is called Storm Shadow missile in Britain. It can be used in any weather, day or night.
Talking about Brahmos, it is the world's fastest supersonic cruise missile which is included in all three armies. It has been made by Brahmos Aerospace which is a joint venture of India and Russia. Brahmos missile is capable of attacking at the speed of Mach 3 in the cruise phase, which reduces the flight time and destroys its target in a very short time. For this reason, it is not possible to shoot it down. Brahmos works on the policy of 'fire and forget'. It contains 200 to 300 kg of gunpowder. Its range has now increased to about 800 km.
