International News:Brazil has inaugurated the world's largest mosquito factory in its city of Kuritiba. Special mosquitoes will be prepared in this factory, which are called 'good' mosquitoes. The purpose of these mosquitoes is to prevent the spread of diseases like dengue, Zika, and chikungunya.
Crores of mosquito eggs will be produced per week in the factory. These mosquitoes are infected with bacteria called 'Volbachia.' When these mosquitoes breed with local mosquitoes, the ability of normal mosquitoes to spread the virus will be reduced. In this way, the spread of diseases will be prevented in a natural way.
Dengue has been a cause for constant concern in Brazil. In 2024, 6,297 people died of dengue. For this reason, this initiative of 'good' mosquitoes is considered very important. In the past, some cities have been tested, except for these mosquitoes, and this method proved to be effective there.
About 1 crore mosquitoes can be produced in the factory every week. According to experts, this effort can provide security to about 14 crore people. Health officials are considering this ability of the factory a major help against dengue and other mosquito diseases in the future.
The Brazilian government plans to spread this technology to 40 cities in the coming years. This will give crores of people a chance to protect against mosquito-borne diseases. Experts say that this method will help reduce the spread of diseases not only at the local level but also across the country.
This initiative of Brazil looks simple and effective. Reducing the chances of spreading the virus through 'good' mosquitoes is a practical and safe way. It is clear from this experiment that it is possible to adopt new technology to fight against diseases.
