Washington: Donald Trump is in the headlines again. The US president has claimed that the tension between Iran and America-Israel is about to end. He wrote on Truth Social that the ceasefire agreement is almost certain. Only final terms are being discussed.

What's in the deal?

According to Trump, a "Memorandum of Understanding" is being made. The biggest issue is bringing permanent peace to the Middle East. The second point is to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This is the same sea route from where half of the world's oil is produced. Due to the war, shipping had stopped there and oil prices had also increased.

Talks were held with which countries?

Before the announcement, Trump took everyone on the line by rotating the phone. Spoke to leaders of Qatar, Saudi, UAE, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Bahrain. Separate discussions were held with Israeli PM Netanyahu. Trump is saying that yes has been said on most of the issues. Now only the formal announcement is left.

Why did Trump's stance suddenly change?

Till a few days ago, Trump was threatening to drop bombs on Iran. Then suddenly he became soft. It was said that the Gulf countries had requested that the fighting should not spread to the entire area, hence the military action was stopped. On the other hand, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir also came to Iran. Pakistan described the visit as a "big success" and said peace talks had moved forward.

What does Iran have to say?

Iran has also agreed that talks are going on. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bakai said that Tehran is working on a draft of 14 points. This draft will form the foundation of the final deal. Iran says that a big deal can be done in the next 1-2 months.

What are the main issues of dispute?

There are still many complications. Iran's nuclear program, control over the Strait of Hormuz, the presence of American troops in the area, and Iran's frozen money, all these issues have not been resolved yet. Remember, the fighting started on 28 February. Then America and Israel had launched a strong attack on Iran. Iran also retaliated against Israel and America's friends in the Gulf. Open firing has stopped since April, but tension is still in the air. Now it remains to be seen how true Trump's claim is. If the deal is done, the map of the Middle East will change.
