Earthquake of 6.6 Magnitude Strikes Indonesia; Flood And Landslide Toll Continues To Rise

Indonesia: In a shocking incident, an earthquake of magnitude 6.3 hit Indonesia Sumatra island near Aceh province on Thursday. Not just this, the island also suffered natural disasters, including a tropical cyclone. According to the geophysics agency, the earthquake was 10 kilometres deep and had no tsunami potential, reported the Reuters.

At least 28 people have been killed in the floods and landslides caused due to the rain in the North Sumatra province. Soon after getting the information, the rescue operations were started. As per the Reuters, efforts were also taken to control the situation as the “total cut-off” of roads and communications. 

It is to be noted here that in the flood hit area, a rare tropical cyclone ‘Senyar’ also blew across the Sumatra island on Wednesday.
