Priest Dies After Massive Crucifix Falls On Him During Live-Streamed Church Service In Ecuador

Ecuador: A tragic accident occurred inside the church in Guayaquil city of South American country Ecuador. The prayer meeting was being broadcast live on social media when the heavy wooden crucifix on the wall suddenly fell down. Catholic priest Patrick Alfredo Sanchez Molinari died after being hit by it. The incident is reported to have occurred on October 17 at the Nuestra Señora del Perpetua Socorro Church. The scene of the accident was recorded in live broadcast, after which the incident started being discussed on social media.

According to local media reports, the priest was standing in front of the altar during an evening mass. There was a large wooden crucifix on the wall behind them. In the middle of the prayer its support suddenly went away and the entire structure fell on the priest. After the incident, the devotees present in the church got scared and ran to save him. In the broadcast, people were heard calling for help and appealing for an ambulance. The live broadcast stopped shortly after.

Patrick Alfredo Sanchez Molinari was serving as priest at the Nuestra Señora del Perpetua Socorro Church in Guayaquil. He was associated with the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, a Catholic religious organization whose members are called Redemptorists.
