Dubai: Amid the ongoing war with the US and Israel, Iran has launched a major attack on the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to reports, Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones on the UAE on Wednesday. Reports also indicate that Iran targeted Dubai Airport, where four people, including an Indian, were injured when a drone crashed.
The Dubai Media Office stated that an Indian citizen sustained minor injuries in the attack. In addition to the Indian citizen, two Ghanaians and a Bangladeshi citizen were also injured in the attack near Dubai International Airport. In a statement on X, the Dubai Media Office said, "Authorities have confirmed that two drones crashed near Dubai International Airport (DXB) a short while ago, causing minor injuries to two Ghanaians and a Bangladeshi citizen, and one Indian citizen. Air traffic is operating normally." However, the extent of the damage caused by the drone crashes is unclear. Officials are investigating the cause of the incident and the source of the drones. Flight operations are continuing despite the attack. Dubai International Airport is the world's busiest hub for international travel.
Earlier, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense stated early Wednesday that its air defense systems were continuously responding to missile and drone attacks from Iran. Residents in Dubai were warned of a potential missile threat through a government emergency mobile alert and urged to immediately evacuate to safe buildings. However, authorities later withdrew the warning after the situation improved.
The UAE's Defense Ministry stated on Tuesday that its air defense system is on alert and coordination with allies has further strengthened its position. The ministry reported that 1,475 drone and 270 missile attacks have occurred in the past 11 days, most of which have been neutralized.
Meanwhile, Iran has issued a major warning, stating that it could target US and Israeli-linked economic centers, banks, and American companies like Google and Microsoft in the region. This statement reportedly came in response to the attack on an Iranian bank. A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards in Iran, clarified that following the attack on an Iranian bank, enemy financial institutions are now their target. Iran has advised citizens in the region to stay within a one-kilometer radius of these banks for safety reasons.
In addition, Iran has released a list of major American technology companies whose technology is being used for military purposes. These include Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, IBM, and Oracle. According to Iranian media, these companies' offices and cloud-based infrastructure in Israel and some Gulf countries are now Iran's "legitimate military targets." Iran says that as the scope of the war expands, it is forced to expand its attacks to economic and technological assets.
