Iran: Tension between Iran and the European Union has now increased further. Taking a major decision, Iran's Foreign Ministry has declared the Navy and Air Force of the European Union member countries as terrorist organizations. Iran has clearly said that this step has been taken in response to the European Union listing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said in its statement that this action has been taken under the law of the country. According to the rule made in 2019, if any country or organization declares IRGC as terrorist or supports such decision, then Iran can take similar action against it. Iran says that the IRGC is part of its official army, so the accusation against it is wrong and unacceptable.
On 19 February 2026, the European Union decided to declare IRGC as a terrorist organization. European countries believe that some of the IRGC's activities could pose a threat to regional security and stability. For this reason this step was taken.
The IRGC is an important military unit of Iran, which was established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. This organization plays an important role in the country's security, missile program and many strategic matters. Its position in Iran's defense system is considered very strong.
This step of Iran may bring further tension in the relations between Europe and Iran. There are already differences between the two sides on many issues. Now diplomatic relations may be further affected by this new decision.
Iran has described its decision as related to the security and honor of the country. European countries are justifying their decision. In such a situation, there is a possibility of either talks or conflict between the two sides in the coming time. This matter is considered important at the international level.
