Iran's Chabahar Port Hit in Fresh US Strikes After Trump's 'It Will Get Much Worse' Warning (X)
Tehran: The United States military launched new attacks on Iran's southeastern port city of Chabahar on early Thursday morning after President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire "over."
The US Central Command has given information about these attacks. Just a few hours before these attacks, US President Donald Trump, who arrived in Turkey to attend the NATO summit, had said that the ceasefire with Iran have ended. While giving information about the new attack on Iran, the Central Command said that the purpose of this action is to ensure the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
US attacks have shaken Iran's coastal cities. According to Iranian state media, power supply has been disrupted in Iran's southern port city of Chabahar. Around 10 explosions were heard in Chabahar and another coastal city, Konarak. It is worth noting that India has significant investments in Chabahar and has developed the port there. Iranian media has confirmed one death in the US attacks.
The US Central Command said in a statement that the Washington is holding Iran accountable for the recent unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews who were traveling freely in a vital international waterway.
Iran media reported that explosions were heard in the city of Bushehr. It is unclear where the explosions occurred. Bushehr is home to Iran's nuclear power plant. However, according to reports, the power plant was undamaged.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has warned that if Iranian forces continue to target ships in the Strait of Hormuz, US retaliatory strikes will be even more severe. "This is retaliation for Iran's bombing of ships yesterday," Trump said. "If it happens again, the situation will get even worse."
The US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17 to end the war and achieve lasting peace, but the latest tensions have dampened hopes for further talks. The Iranian state media, affiliated with Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said the Iranian army would soon retaliate with a massive attack on US military bases in the region.
