Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary (X)
Islamabad: The press conference of the Pakistan Army's media wing, ISPR, held in Islamabad, once again exposed the tension in India-Pakistan relations. ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary spoke openly on terrorism, the border situation, and regional security. Strictness was clearly visible in the entire statement. The message was also blunt. Pakistan blames external interference for its internal security challenges. During this, India and Afghanistan were directly mentioned, which further increased the seriousness of the statement.
DG ISPR claimed that in the year 2025, Pakistan faced the most serious phase of terrorist violence. He said that hundreds of big and small attacks took place in the last year. The army and security agencies conducted thousands of intelligence operations. A large number of terrorists were killed. Many soldiers lost their lives. According to him, the situation is certainly difficult, but not out of control.
The Afghan border was mentioned repeatedly in the press conference. General Chaudhary said that many terrorist groups operating in Pakistan are getting support from Afghan soil. Safe havens have been created across the border. From there the attacks are planned. He also said that Pakistan has raised this issue with Kabul several times, but no concrete action has been seen.
This time DG ISPR accused India without any hesitation. He said that India is working on a strategy to create instability in Pakistan. It was alleged that Indian agencies provide financial and logistical support to terrorists. According to General Chaudhary, Pakistan has evidence of this, and it will be placed on international forums.
The possibility of a warlike situation was not denied in the press conference. However, it was also said that Pakistan does not want the beginning of any conflict. The army is fully alert. There is preparation to respond to any audacity. He made it clear that Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty.
DG ISPR said that Afghanistan's soil should not be used against Pakistan. He expressed expectation from the Taliban government to rein in the terrorists. If this does not happen, regional instability will increase. The entire area will have to suffer the consequences of this.
The military spokesperson also said that the army and the civilian government are on the same page on the issue of terrorism. He denied any internal differences. The message was that Pakistan's stand on the question of security is united.
According to analysts, this statement was not limited to just giving information. This was also a strategic message. India, Afghanistan, and the international community were all its target audiences. Pakistan has made it clear that it holds external forces responsible for the current situation, and the rhetoric may intensify in the coming days.
