Iran’s Supreme Leader Appeals for Muslim Unity Against US and Israel (Facebook)

Tehran: Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has appealed to Muslim countries to unite against Israel and America. According to Iranian government news agency IRNA, Khamenei made this appeal in a letter written to religious leaders of Islamic countries attending a conference held in Tehran. He called on the rulers of Muslim countries to recognise their "real enemy", understand its plans and confront it.

What did Khamenei say to the leaders of Muslim countries?

In his letter, Khamenei described America and Israel as enemies of all Islamic countries. He said that the rulers of Muslim countries should identify their real enemy and understand his plans and face him.

This statement has come at a time when tensions between Iran, Israel and America are continuously increasing in the region.

When did tension increase between Iran, America and Israel?

Khamenei's father and several senior leaders were killed in US and Israeli attacks on Iran in the last six months. After this, Iran also targeted targets in neighbouring Gulf countries and tried to limit movement in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran has also opposed the US military presence in the Gulf countries. Amidst this entire incident, the tension between Iran and Western countries has deepened.

Tension increased in Israeli settlements too?

According to the report, a news crew in the West Bank was attacked by people living in Israeli settlements on Saturday. The team was interviewing a Palestinian woman, who said she had been thrown out of her home.

According to reports, three people, including a news crew member and a woman, were injured. The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the incident. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the violence of settlers in the West Bank.

Why was there controversy regarding the British worker also?

In another incident, people living in Israel caught British activist Finn Jorgin from a Palestinian village and handed him over to the police. His lawyer Inbar Shaked Waidi alleged that he was kept locked in a shed for about half an hour.

The settlers accused the worker of assaulting a child, which the lawyer denied. According to him, the police decided to deport him without trial. Britain's Foreign Ministry said its officials have raised the matter with Israeli authorities.

Can Khamenei's statement further increase tension?

Khamenei's appeal comes at a time when military and political tensions in the region are higher than ever. Iran's call to Muslim countries to unite and tough rhetoric against America and Israel may make the situation in West Asia more sensitive in the coming days.
