International News: A unique social practice has emerged in China these days. Many young women and girls of the country want to hug such men, who are being called "Man Mums," to get relief from mental stress and loneliness. These men are not only physically strong, but they also have that softness and sympathy, which looks like a mother.
Meetings with these 'Man Mums' are usually determined through social chat apps, and then this "magic hug" is given in public places such as malls, parks, or metro stations. The session of this hug, which lasts for five minutes, is about 50 yuan, i.e., about 600 rupees. But for many women, this touch of a few minutes is proving to be very effective in reducing their stress and nervousness.
Earlier, the word 'Man Mums' meant only the powerful men who go to the gym, but now its scope has changed. It is now being used for men who are not only physically strong but also emotionally capable of supporting women. They are known for calm, patient, and sympathetic behavior.
A student recently wrote on social media that she wants a hug from a cool and strong "man mums" to overcome the stress of her thesis. She said, "I was hugging him once in school, and i felt very relaxed. Can we hug for just 5 minutes at the metro station?"
Her post became so viral that it got more than a million comments. Many other girls also wrote that they consider such meetings to be a relief.
The price for this service is usually from 20 to 50 yuan. A woman said that after overtime in the office for three hours, she was so broken that she contacted a 'man mums.' He hugged her for three minutes and listened to her words - especially the complaints about the boss.
Although this trend is becoming increasingly popular, some questions are also arising with it: is this kind of hug just mental relief, or is it another step towards emotional dependence? Is this really helpful, or is it a temporary comfort method?
At the moment, there is so much in the world that increases rapid speed and emotional distance that people are looking for new avenues for true engagement and warmth - and 'Man Mums' in China is probably a unique answer to the same search.
