Middle East War Flares Up Amid Renewed US Attacks On Iran

Tehran: Iran has been attacked for the second time on Monday. Explosions have once again occurred near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Port. This marks the second time today that blasts have taken place near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island; this information was reported by Iran's Mehr News Agency. Tensions between Iran and the US have flared up again, with both sides targeting each other's positions.

Why did US attack Iran? 

Prior to this, the US military had targeted specific locations within Iran. Earlier this morning, Iranian media outlet IRIB reported that "enemy missiles" had targeted Mahshahr, Jask, Sirik, Bandar Abbas, and Qeshm Port.
The latest attack followed these events. Two people were killed and three injured in the recent US strike on Iran. Missiles struck three locations in Abadan during the US attacks. The Deputy Governor of Khuzestan stated that Abadan city was targeted at 1:45 PM local time on Monday, resulting in two fatalities.

How did Iran retaliate? 

In retaliation, Iran attacked US military bases in Jordan, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait. These strikes destroyed fuel depots, ammunition bunkers, Patriot air defense systems, and drone command centers.
The IRGC issued three separate statements regarding these attacks. They stated that the strikes were a response to US attacks on Iranian coastal positions following a naval confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In the first phase, the IRGC reported using missiles and drones to set fire to major missile depots and fuel storage tanks at Jordan's Prince Hassan Airbase. In the second phase, IRGC Aerospace Forces targeted helicopter maintenance and repair centers, hangars housing P-8 electronic warfare aircraft, and drone command and control centers at the US base in Sheikh Isa, Bahrain.

What is the situation in Strait of Hormuz? 

 The latest standoff between the US and Iran centers on control over the Strait of Hormuz. On Monday, both nations claimed authority over the strait following a series of attacks across the Middle East over the weekend—incidents that further jeopardize diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
The hostilities escalated on Sunday when Iran attacked a container ship within the strait, off the coast of Oman. These attacks have once again underscored the fact that this waterway remains a critical issue in negotiations.
Since the conflict began, the movement of vessels through this narrow Persian Gulf chokepoint has been disrupted; Iran has sought to assert its grip on the area by attacking commercial ships and intimidating shipping companies.
Iran and the US have already completed nearly half of the 60-day interim agreement intended to pave the way for talks aimed at permanently ending the conflict. Instead, the situation has deteriorated into a cycle of attacks targeting the strait and its future, raising concerns among world leaders that a full-scale war with Iran could erupt.
