Muskat: An Indian man has died in the ongoing war in the Middle East. Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker MKD VYOM was attacked by a drone in Oman on Monday, killing an Indian sailor on board. According to Oman News Agency, the attack took place off the coast of Muscat. The attack caused a fire on the ship and an explosion in the engine room. There were a total of 21 crew members on board, including 16 Indians. The remaining people have been evacuated safely.
According to the report, the attack took place near the Strait of Hormuz, which is a narrow passage to the Persian Gulf. This is very important for global oil trade. Oman's Maritime Security Center said the tanker was carrying about 59,463 metric tons of cargo and the attack occurred about 52 nautical miles off Muscat. This incident is considered to be part of the expansion of the ongoing war in the Middle East. Israel and the US have recently launched massive airstrikes against Iran, in response to which Iran has threatened ships approaching the Strait of Hormuz.

Experts believe that Iran has carried out several attacks, including the use of drones and missiles. The attack is being linked to Iran-backed forces, although no one has yet explicitly claimed responsibility. The region has witnessed maritime attacks in the past, but the current conflict has further heightened tensions. The death of an Indian in this attack is being seen as the first Indian loss in the US-Iran conflict.
Oman has evacuated the ship's crew safely after the attack and efforts are being made to control the situation. Such incidents raise questions about the security of international sea routes and can affect the oil supply chain. The attack is likely to deepen regional instability, as much of the world's oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Maritime trade is being affected by the increasing tension between Iran and Western countries. Coastal countries like Oman have to take extra vigilance to deal with such incidents. Experts are worrying that if such attacks continue, it could have a serious impact on the global energy market.
