International News: Pakistan often grabs headlines for controversial reasons, but this time, a truly uplifting and inspiring story has emerged from Karachi. At just 18 years old, Minelle Farooqui has achieved a remarkable milestone—becoming the youngest female commercial pilot in Pakistan’s history. From a young age, Minelle was captivated by the idea of flying. Living near the Karachi airport runway, she spent countless hours watching airplanes take off and land. That early exposure sparked a dream she was determined to fulfill.
“Flying is in my DNA,” Minelle says. “Ever since childhood, seeing airplanes sparked my curiosity. I always knew I wanted to become a pilot.”
Her journey was anything but easy. Minelle impressed everyone by clearing 13 aviation exams within just one year—a feat that speaks volumes about her dedication and focus.
“My message isn’t just for girls, but for every young person: If you’re truly passionate about something, chase it. There will always be challenges and people who try to hold you back. But never let go of your dream,” she affirms.
Currently, Minelle operates an air ambulance, using her skills not just to fly, but to save lives. For her, this role is more than just a job—it’s a mission filled with purpose.
“Being in aviation is my greatest passion. Flying air ambulances allows me to help people in their most critical moments. It's not only a responsibility but a source of deep pride and satisfaction,” she explains.
But Minelle’s ambitions don’t end here. Her next goal is to become an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)—a high-level certification that would allow her to fly major commercial airliners. She is currently preparing diligently for this next chapter.
Minelle Farooqui’s story is a beacon of hope and motivation—especially for young girls across South Asia—showing that passion, perseverance, and courage can break through even the most rigid societal norms. She has proven that when determination meets hard work, no dream is too distant, and no sky is unreachable.
