International News:Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton has claimed that the once very close relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump has faded. He said that this is a lesson that personal friendship does not always work in international politics.

A journey from friendship to distance

Bolton said in an interview with Britain's channel LBC that Trump once had a good personal understanding with Modi, but now the situation has changed. According to him, personal closeness with a leader can be temporarily helpful, but it does not protect the country's interests or save it from major controversies.

Trade tension became a major reason

Trade differences between India and America have deepened for some time. The Trump administration has imposed a fee of up to 50 percent on Indian products, which has directly affected trade between the two countries. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently appeared in Beijing with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. This development is seen as a sign of possible changes in India's strategy and the search for new partners.

Comment on Trump's foreign policy

Bolton also said that Trump evaluates international relations on the basis of his personal equation with leaders. He gave the example that Trump believes that if he is friends with Putin, then America and Russia are also close. Whereas the reality is completely different from this.

The picture changed with 'Howdy Modi.'

A few years ago, the friendship of Modi and Trump was discussed everywhere. During America's 'Howdy Modi' program and India tour, the partnership of both was called 'bromance.' But Bolton says that now that era is over and the warmth of the relationship has cooled down.

Warning to other leaders

Bolton warned other leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, that personal relations with Trump can give immediate benefits, but they will not protect you from his sudden and harsh decisions.

Constant opposition to Bolton

John Bolton was Donald Trump's National Security Advisor from 2018 to 2019. Since resigning, he has been constantly criticizing Trump's policies and his way of working. Their latest statement makes it clear how complex points of Indo-US relations are standing and also states that only personal relationship-based diplomacy cannot prove to be effective for a long time.
