National News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again shown the world that India is no longer just a partner but a country that plays an important role in global decisions. PM Modi, who arrived to attend the G7 Summit 2025 held in Calgary, Canada, gave a new dimension to diplomatic relations and not only started a new relationship with Canada but also held important meetings with other global leaders.

PM Modi on Canadian soil after 10 years

This visit was special in many ways, as Prime Minister Modi reached Canada after almost 10 years, which happened in 2015 during his previous tenure. This time, inviting India to a big platform like the G7 is in itself a sign of India's growing global credibility. After attending the summit, the Prime Minister wrote on the social media platform X, "We are all together for the development of the world."

This message not only reflects the spirit of cooperation but also reflects India's policy in which shared responsibility and global development are given priority.

Meeting with Canada's new Prime Minister Mark Carney

India-Canada relations have been strained in the last few years, especially during the tenure of former PM Justin Trudeau. But the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Canada's newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney during this summit marked a new beginning for both countries.

PM Modi said, "I am grateful for Canada's invitation and the opportunity to connect with the people again." He expressed commitment to working together in the fields of democracy, investment, and human values.

Emphasis on India's global participation

In his address, PM Modi said that India had initiated many global initiatives during its presidency of the G20, and now it has gotten an opportunity to take them forward on forums like the G7. Describing India as the "world's largest democracy," he emphasized strengthening democratic values.

Meeting with world leaders

During the G7 Summit, PM Modi met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and invited her to visit India and expressed gratitude for supporting India against terrorism. The meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron also made headlines, where both leaders warmly welcomed each other.
