Mass Abduction in Nigeria: 215 Children and 12 Staff Taken, President Drops South Africa Visit

Nigeria: A major kidnapping took place in the western region of Nigeria on Friday. Gunmen attacked St. Mary's Catholic boarding school in the Papiri community and took away more than 200 children. This is one of the biggest kidnapping incidents in the country in recent years. According to local officials, the attackers took away 215 students and 12 teachers.

The Christian Association of Nigeria said it was working with authorities for the safe return of the children. Senior officials of the organization reached the school at night and met the parents. Many families are still troubled by not getting any information about their children.

62-year-old Dauda Chekula said that his four grandchildren were also among the kidnapped children. He says that the children who were able to escape ran in different directions, and till now they do not know exactly where the attackers have taken the other children.
