International News: The Nobel Committee announced the Nobel Prize in Chemistry on Wednesday (October 8, 2025). The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the year 2025 to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar Yaghi. These three scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on the development of metal-organic frameworks. This year, the award was jointly awarded to scientists from Japan, the United States, and Australia.

Who got the Nobel in Medicine and Physics?

Earlier, on Monday, October 6, the announcement of Nobel Prizes began. On Monday, the Nobel Prize for Medicine was awarded to scientists Mary E. Brunko, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi. On Tuesday, the Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded to three American scientists, John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis. These three were awarded this prize for the discovery of macroscopic quantum, mechanical tunneling, and energy quantization in electrical circuits. After this, the Nobel Prizes for Literature, Economics, and Peace will be announced in the coming days.

What does a Nobel Prize winning scientist get?

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry is awarded annually by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for outstanding discoveries in the field of chemistry. Nobel laureates receive a total of 11 million Swedish crowns (US$12 million) as a prize. In the event that more than one scientist shares the Nobel Prize for the same discovery, the prize money is shared.
