World News: OpenAI made a major change to its chatbot, ChatGPT, on Monday, launching a parental control feature. Parents will now be able to monitor their children's chats and receive instant alerts when sensitive conversations occur.

Increasing Child Safety

Children are now increasing the use of chat GPT to help school work, daily information and mental health. New features have been made especially keeping in mind such cases, where teenagers write things like committing suicide or harming themselves.

Adam Rhine Case Increases Pressure

The parents of 16-year-old Adam Rhine filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. Adam died in California in April. They claim ChatGPT provided them with information on suicide methods. Following this incident, the company has made changes to its safety features.

Human Moderators and Alert System

Now, if a teen posts sensitive content, the chat will first go to a human moderator. If a serious situation is detected, parents will be notified via email, SMS, or app notification.

Additional Safety Features

Graphic content, viral challenges, violent or sexual roleplay, and content with extreme beauty standards will be blocked on teen accounts linked to parent accounts.

Data and Time Controls

Parents will now have greater control over children's ChatGPT use. They can set time limits for chatting, turn off voice mode and image generation, and disable the bot's saved memory. Children's data will no longer be used for AI training.
