International News: Neither a terror charge nor a gangster case… Yet the US has announced a reward of 50 million dollars (about 4 billion rupees) on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. This amount of reward is twice more than the amount given to Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and Islamic State's Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The US had placed a bounty of 25 million dollars on both these terrorists. In such a situation, the question arises: why would the US spend money like water to capture the president of Venezuela?
1. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Nicolas Maduro is the kingpin of the drug smuggling gang. Dangerous drugs are being smuggled into the US at Maduro's behest. According to the US investigative agency, Venezuela acts as a bridge for drug smuggling around the world. About 250 metric tons of drugs are smuggled through Venezuela every year.
2. The British newspaper Daily Mail had published a report a day earlier. It said that Venezuela is sending illegal Iranian immigrants to America using its passports. The report expressed apprehension that some terrorists have also entered America through Venezuela using fake passports.
3. According to US Attorney General Pam Bondi, we have decided to double the reward. The reason for this is that Maduro is now directly involved in drug trafficking. Venezuela's Foreign Minister Ivan Gil has called it nonsense by writing a post on Telegram.
The dispute between America and Venezuela is quite old. In 1999, Hugo Chavez took over the reins of this South American country. Chavez opened a front against the American imperialists. America also tried to pacify Chavez through a coup but was unsuccessful.
Chavez sowed the seeds of communist ideology in Venezuela during his rule, due to which America is very troubled. Venezuela's current president, Nicolas Maduro, is Chavez's political disciple. Maduro also remains diplomatically aggressive against America.
