World News: Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, India has received significant support from the international community. The QUAD alliance—which includes the United States, Japan, Australia, and India—has strongly condemned the attack and emphasized the need to bring the perpetrators and their supporters to justice. The brutal incident claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, most of whom were tourists.

Motive Behind the Attack: Destabilizing India’s Economy

India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, described the Pahalgam attack as a strategic attempt to sabotage India’s growing tourism industry. He referred to it not merely as an act of violence but as a form of “economic warfare.” The underlying motive, he said, was to disrupt peace and development in the Kashmir Valley and shake the confidence of global tourists and investors.

India’s Swift Response: Operation Sindoor

In retaliation, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7. Under this mission, the Indian Army targeted multiple terrorist hideouts in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and across the Line of Control. Defense sources confirmed that several terror camps were destroyed, and a large number of militants were neutralized during the operation. This action sent a clear message that India would respond with strength and precision to any cross-border threats.

Unified Stand by QUAD Nations

A high-level meeting of the QUAD foreign ministers was held in Washington, D.C., where India’s S. Jaishankar met his counterparts, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The foreign ministers of Japan and Australia also participated. The leaders unanimously endorsed a ‘zero tolerance’ policy toward terrorism and released a joint statement condemning the Pahalgam attack. They asserted that those responsible for such heinous acts, along with their sponsors, must face justice.

India-U.S. Strategic Dialogue on Security

During his visit, Jaishankar also met U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Their discussions focused on deepening the India-U.S. defense partnership, enhancing technological cooperation, and advancing shared strategic goals. Key areas such as energy security, connectivity, and cybersecurity were also discussed, highlighting the growing multidimensional relationship between the two democracies.

India’s Message to the World: No More Silence

Minister Jaishankar strongly emphasized that India will no longer tolerate nuclear intimidation or cross-border terrorism. Referring to recent Pakistan-sponsored terror attacks, he declared that “enough is enough.” He reaffirmed that India is committed to protecting its citizens and will continue to take decisive action to dismantle terrorist networks, regardless of their location.

The international support, especially from QUAD nations, coupled with India’s firm military and diplomatic response, signals a new era of collective action against terrorism. The global community is recognizing the need for unified efforts, and India is emerging as a proactive and decisive force in this ongoing battle.
