Islamabad: In a hilarious move, Pakistan has accused India of promoting terrorism. These allegations were made by the Pakistani military's propaganda wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also accused terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan of colluding with India. He claimed that terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, with India's support, are fueling terrorism in Pakistan. He further stated that this has led Pakistan to face unprecedented security challenges in 2025.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, claimed, "Terrorist organizations are using Afghan territory as their operational base, while funding and support are coming from India."
He described this as a new pattern of investment in terrorism.
"The most prominent pattern affecting Pakistan points towards India," Chaudhry said.
He further added that Afghanistan remains an operational base for terrorist groups targeting Pakistan.
The DG ISPR stated that a "war economy" is a major cause of terrorism in Afghanistan. Citing reports, he said that approximately $147 billion was spent on the reconstruction of Afghanistan, raising questions about where the money went. He said that when such financial flows stop, conflict-dependent groups try to sustain themselves by spreading terrorism across the region.
He also stated that $7.2 billion worth of US military equipment, including advanced weapons, was left behind in Afghanistan. The DG ISPR also said that political and internal facilitation was provided during the same period. He said that Pakistan adopted a tough stance against these elements in 2023. Chaudhry said that the developments in Afghanistan since 2021 have changed the terrorism landscape.
The ISPR chief referred to the Doha agreement between the Afghan Taliban, the US, and its international partners, which included promises to form an inclusive government, prevent the use of Afghan territory for terrorism, and protect women's rights. He further stated that these promises have not been fulfilled.
"An inclusive government has not been formed, Afghan territory has been used by several terrorist organizations, and groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have started operating from Afghanistan," he said.
