Pakistan, which has always refused to recognise Israel as a country and even avoided taking its name publicly, now seems to be changing its decades-old policy. Secret intelligence sources have revealed that Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir recently met with officials from Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad. This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that such direct contact has taken place between the two nations. The secret meeting reportedly happened in Egypt, where Munir met several senior Mossad officials. The most notable part of this meeting was the presence of officers from the American intelligence agency CIA. This development is being seen as a major shift in the regional geopolitical situation.
The main focus of this confidential and historic meeting was the Gaza crisis. Reports suggest that during the meeting, Israel agreed to Pakistan’s proposal to send 20,000 of its soldiers to Gaza. These troops will be part of an International Stabilization Force, formed to restore peace in the war-torn region. This force will include soldiers from other Muslim-majority countries such as Egypt, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. The plan aims to free Gaza from Hamas’s control and assist in rebuilding the region under the guidance of Western and Arab-led alliances. Pakistan is working jointly on this plan with Indonesia and Azerbaijan.
It is being reported that Israel made certain conditions very clear to Pakistan. The Netanyahu administration stated that Pakistani forces in Gaza will only help in maintaining peace and will not take part in any combat operations. Additionally, the responsibility to collect weapons from Hamas will lie with security forces from Pakistan and other Muslim countries. According to sources, under this deal, Pakistani soldiers will act as a buffer force between Israel and other militant groups in Gaza. Their mission will be to ensure safety, support reconstruction, and help restore local institutions.
Intelligence sources further revealed that Pakistan’s cooperation in this matter has been “quietly rewarded” with temporary diplomatic relief. This reward mainly concerns Pakistan’s internal and border security conditions.
There are two main parts of this “reward”:
A source described this deal as a “survival agreement”, meaning Pakistan is receiving economic relief and global legitimacy in exchange for cooperation with Western security interests. It is evident that Pakistan agreed to this covert alliance with Israel in order to get out of its severe economic predicament and increasing isolation on the world stage. This deal is a watershed in Pakistan's foreign policy and may have a lasting impact on South Asian and Middle Eastern geopolitics.
