Pakistan: The government of Pakistan has made it clear that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will attend the 'Board of Peace' meeting regarding Gaza. This meeting will be led by US President Donald Trump.
The special thing about this meeting is that Benjamin Netanyahu will also be present in it. This means that for the first time the prime ministers of Pakistan and Israel can be seen on the same stage. This is being considered a big and interesting step diplomatically.
Sources say that apart from the meeting, there can also be a separate conversation between Shehbaz Sharif and Trump in the White House. Although this has not been officially approved yet, such a possibility is being expressed.
Pakistan says that its objective is clear. It wants to talk about an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, support for Palestine and a permanent political solution. The government says that it is going to this forum with “good intentions” so that it can present its side to the world.
The Pakistani Foreign Office avoided commenting much on this. It says that Israel's decision is its own and Pakistan will not comment on it. That is, he has stepped cautiously on this issue.
Pakistan also cornered India during the press briefing. The spokesperson said that sports should not be mixed with politics and cricket should not be used to create pressure against any country. He indirectly raised questions on India's decisions.
This meeting is like a test of balance for Pakistan. On one hand there is an opportunity to strengthen relations with America, on the other hand, there is also the sensitivity of sharing the stage with Israel. In such a situation, Islamabad is moving very cautiously.
The simple thing is that this is not just a meeting, but a big moment of diplomacy, which can create many new equations in the future.
