Meanwhile, York Hospital said it was treating two people with serious injuries related to the shooting in northern York County. The hospital said it had put in place strict security measures. Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis said in a social media post, "Please pray for the officers and people involved in the shooting in York County."
A local school district issued a shelter-in-place order, though it said the school and students were not involved in the shooting. The order was lifted later that afternoon. The district said in a statement that officials, "as a precaution, have advised students and staff to remain in their buildings, while several roads in the area are closed." The medical response occurred on a rural road in south-central Pennsylvania, which winds through an agricultural area dotted with red barns and fields.
